Back In the Saddle

Last night marked my first “Official” Showcase at the New Comedy Zone Charlotte. I was super late due to traffic because Selena Gomez was performing a concert at the same venue.  Thanks!  I heard Justin Bieber broke up with her.  I also heard he made her late once too. Baby Baby Baby OOOhhh.

I opened my set with a joke that ran along those lines and the crowd loved it, as just about everyone there was stuck in the same awful traffic.

I have been very lackadaisical on my blog post recently.  July was a busy month.  I was running around town doing open mics trying to work the bugs out on new material.  There were a few shows where I bombed hard, Libya Style.  Hopefully there will be some new fun jokes soon.  I also did an unofficial showcase at the New Comedy Zone last week.  I went to chat with a fellow comic and ended up in the show.  It was the first time I told jokes to an audience wearing jeans and little make-up.   I learned a tip that night…always be prepared to tell jokes if going to a venue where a show is about to happen because you never know when you are going to get pulled on stage.  Regardless of what I was wearing, it still was a lot of fun and the crowd was great!

Over the course of July some other cool things happened as well. One, I think I mentioned already, I was asked to be part of a great Charity show…Queen City Comedy Throwdown Benefitting Cystic Fibrosis (Full Details Below).  Second, I was asked to do some radio voice work, so that is pretty cool. I also developed my first ever Girl In Pearls Newsletter designed to let people know what is going on in my life, share little tips that may help you out and put a smile on your face, celebrate people who enjoy funny girl in pearls, and promote upcoming shows.
